Hello from the great outdoors
My name is Gillian and I offer guided Half and Full day walks for individuals & groups over the stunningly beautiful Dartmoor National Park.
I came to Devon 20 years ago after spending time hiking around The Andes, Himalayas and Patagonia. I now spend time exploring each of Dartmoor's unique 368 square miles.
As a qualified and insured Hill and Moorland Leader (HML), Outdoor First Aider, and Mental Health First Aider, I ensure that your adventure is both safe and enriching.
Join me to experience the untamed beauty of Dartmoor, uncover its rich history, explore its myths and legends, and truly connect with nature.

4,000 years of History
Dartmoor's rich history makes it such a fascinating place to explore. The landscape was shaped by our ancestors over the last 4,000 years - from bronze age cairns, stone circles, and burial chambers to abandoned sites offering evidence of the mining of tin, iron, silver and granite.
For centuries, Dartmoor has been a source of inspiration for artists, poets and writers. There's something magical about light carving its way through deep river valleys, casting shadows around bronze age stone circles and bathing it's golden light on the tors.
Wildlife and nature
From spotting wild ponies grazing on the open moorland to glimpsing rare birds, colourful wildflowers, and hidden streams that add to the area's natural beauty. Every walk offers a chance to connect with nature and experience the wild essence of Dartmoor.
Dartmoor Legends
Dartmoor is renowned for its numerous myths, legends and ghost stories. This may be due to the bleak nature of the moor, especially on misty days or is it just that ghosts, ghouls, pixies and water sprites like it here?
Dartmoor’s Tomorrow
During our walks, we also touch on the current issues shaping Dartmoor National Park, offering insights into the ongoing efforts to preserve this unique landscape. We discuss how local communities, conservationists, and park authorities are working together to balance the needs of nature and people. This adds an extra layer of understanding to your experience, helping you appreciate the challenges and triumphs that come with maintaining such a beautiful and vital area.

Q & A
Hiring your own private guide is the most flexible way to enjoy a guided experience on Dartmoor. I can tailor the walk to suit interests, fitness levels, weather, dates and time.
What should I bring?
Dartmoor is renowned for its changeable weather conditions so I recommend bringing the following items:
• Waterproof jacket
• Waterproof trousers
• Spare warm layers
• Walking boots as some areas are rough and uneven so boots that go above the ankle, providing good ankle support and a somewhat waterproof - there can be boggy/muddy areas. I don't recommend trainers but I understand that you may have no option so I can alter a walking route to accommodate.
• Long trousers which protect your legs from ticks, cuts and grazes.
• Warm hat and gloves or sun hat and sun block if sunny.
• Food, drink and snacks for the day.
• Any personal medication.
• Rucksack with waterproof liner/bag.
• Money if we pass somewhere with refreshments.
Optional additions: camera, gaiters and/or walking poles if you have them.
